Illustration Workshop with author and illustrator Dub Leffler Celebrating NAIDOC Week at Ku-ring-gai Library Inspired by his illustrations for Sorry Day (written by Coral Vass) Dub Leffler will introduce children to the life of an illustrator. Alongside his personal journey as an author and illustrator, Dub will highlight all the facets of the illustration process. From sketching an idea to a published work Dub will demonstrate to students the process of crafting illustrations for picture books to complement an author’s story and words. The workshop In this 60-minute workshop Dub will demonstrate how a simple idea becomes a final illustration. The students will participate in “shadow-drawing” and as a result have their own complete drawing by the end of the session. About Dub Descended from the Bigambul people of South-West Queensland, Dub Leffler is a celebrated author and illustrator of children’s literature. His picture book Once There Was a Boy which Dub both wrote and illustrated has received international recognition and a copy is now housed in The Library of Congress in the USA. Dub’s more recent work includes illustrating the book Sorry Day (written by Coral Vass) which went on to win the 2019 Eve Pownall Award from the Children’s Book Council of Australia. Having visited some of the most amazing places throughout Australia and the world Dub has enjoyed the opportunity to teach illustration workshops everywhere from Scotland to the Tiwi Islands. He has collaborated with other celebrated illustrators and artists including Shaun Tan, Sally Morgan and Banksy.
